Washing knives in the dishwasher

  After the advent of dishwashers, housewives began to wash all the dishes in the kitchen in them. However, the controversy still rages whether it is possible to wash knives in such a machine.

A variety of items can be washed in the dishwasher: from baking trays to fragile wine glasses. It all depends on the choice of material and programs. Not all materials withstand long-term exposure to water and high temperatures, as well as interaction with chemicals and drying in hot air. 

Some recommendations for washing different materials: 

* heat-resistant plastic is best washed without putting it in the lower basket;
* thin porcelain becomes covered with cracks, the finish fades - only a short mode is suitable for washing;
* the crystal is resistant to high temperatures, but is afraid of sudden changes;
* ceramic products are washed without restrictions. 

 

Place the dishes correctly inside the machine. The washing result often depends on the correct load. If you ignore the advice, you will not get a positive effect. All models have: 

*  upper basket - place small plates, cups, glasses and various small items there. In some models, you can adjust the height and choose the optimal level to evenly wash the loaded inventory;

*  lower basket - for pots, pans, baking trays, large plates and other large items. Many appliances have hinged racks to distribute dishes evenly. When they are folded, a flat platform is obtained; 

*  tray - in the form of a small removable basket for spoons, forks, knives. 

 

Choosing the right mode is very important. There are several apps on different devices: 

*  the "Soaking" function is suitable for pans with burnt traces or hardened fat; 

*  the "Intensive wash" function has 2 stages - primary and main wash. The temperature is 65-70 degrees. Designed for very dirty inventories; 

*  program "Standard mode" - to wash dishes with an average degree of soiling. The duration of the cycle is 1-1.5 hours at a temperature of 60-65 degrees; 

*  the program "Economic washing" means minimal consumption of electricity and water; 

*  the "Quick wash" mode is intended for light soiling. The temperature is 55 degrees, but the cycle is much shorter; 

*  "Delicate" mode is intended for crystal, glass, porcelain products. Temperature 40-45 degrees; 

*  the most optimal mode is "Automatic" - the device determines the degree of contamination, the number of inventory and sets the desired temperature level and time. 

  Check the water hardness. It is necessary to monitor the level of hardness. With this data, set the appropriate indicator on the device regulator so that the ion exchanger receives the required amount of salt. The sensor indicates when the tank is running out of salt. In that case, add more. 

 

Dishwasher care tips: 

*  after the process is completed, the mesh filter is removed and the waste residues are shaken out and washed under water; 

*  wipe all chamber walls with a dry sponge; 

*  the door of the device is left open so that the chamber is completely dried and no unpleasant smell is created; 

*  the dishwasher is cleaned with chemicals once a quarter.
