Steel X30Cr13 - 1.4028

Steel X30Cr13 - 1.4028

  Steel X30Cr13 - 1.4028 has good properties and excellent corrosion resistance. The presence of carbon in the composition ensures a good hardness of 53-56 HRC. Chromium maintains adequate corrosion resistance, due to this alloying element, the products almost do not oxidize, and their beautiful appearance is preserved throughout the service life. Due to its properties, steel can be very practical for indoor applications where it comes into contact with many products and processed foods, as well as some carbonates, acetates and hydroxides.

  In addition to the fact that X30Cr13 steel is easy to process, it has the following positive properties:

  * corrosion resistance;

  * high hardness;

  * easy sharpening;

  * abrasion resistance;

  * low price.

Corrosion resistance of steel

  As already mentioned, X30Cr13 has high corrosion resistance. It is achieved due to the fact that in the search for a formula, the developers managed to achieve a balanced ratio of chromium and carbon. Anti-corrosion properties are manifested in medium aggressive environments, where there are no compounds such as chlorides, it can be organic acids, soaps, detergents. Optimum corrosion resistance of the alloy can be achieved by hardening and polishing the surface. This creates a stable chromium oxide layer on the surface of the steel, which prevents chemical reactions with the main part of the steel. This oxide layer is extremely thin, passive (resistant to corrosion), durable (good adhesion to the mass) and self-healing (reforms when cracked or damaged).

Chemical composition of steel

  The letter X in the name X30Cr13 indicates that the steel is alloyed, the number 30 indicates the percentage of carbon. Its amount reaches almost 0.3 percent. The remaining characters indicate the presence of chromium. Here it is about 13 percent. Carbon is the main component that provides hardness and rigidity. It must be in all types of steel. The chemical element chromium is a grayish-white metal with a shiny hard surface. This gives the steel its ability to harden. Due to this chemical element, wear resistance and anti-corrosion properties are significantly increased.

Reviews

  Manufacturers note that X30Cr13 steel is a fairly common steel for kitchen knives with stable properties. If you carefully choose a tool for sharpening the blade and do it with attention to subtleties, the knives will last a long time and will not chip.

  Reviews allow us to come to the conclusion that knives made of X30Cr13 steel are quite suitable for everyday work. Hardness and strength allow them to be used intensively for various purposes, and the excellent appearance of the knives is preserved for a long service life.
